Welcome!
Thank you for choosing to participate in this course ‘Road to Sun Salutation A’. I truly hope you this course is the spark that ignites your yoga passion. Module 1 - Preparation
-
Lesson 1 - Preparing the mind
Preparing the mind for yoga is kind of a funny thought since preparing the mind really is a form of yoga all on its own, nevertheless… Before we enter into any physical yoga practice, it’s important that the mind be well grounded in the present moment and in your body.
-
Lesson 2 - Preparing the body
Preparing the body for yoga is important, particularly as we age. Every yoga practice should begin with the 6 actions of the spine (Flexion/Extension, Lateral Flexion LT/RT and Rotation LT/RT.) to warm, lubricate and loosen the body.

Module 2 - The Poses
-
Mountain Pose - Tadasana
Mountain pose is about the most basic pose imaginable, standing. You’ll see though that with awareness and intention, there is far more going on than meets the eye.
-
Forward Fold - Uttanasana
The forward fold, taken for granted by some, an elusive urban legend by others. In this lesson we will learn how to make this pose work for us.
-
Half Lift - Ardha Uttanasana
In this video we will learn to effectively practice Ardha Uttanasana.
-
Four Limbed Staff Pose - Chaturanga Dandasana
This pose is dreaded by many practitioners. In order to perform this pose properly we must use a great deal of functional upper body and core strength with a dash of Laser focus.
-
Upward Facing Dog - Urdhva Mukha Svanasana
Upward Facing Dog or in Sanskrit, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana is a wonderful fully engaged backbend pose that is oh so welcome after Chaturanga in the sun salutation sequence.
-
Downward Facing Dog - Adho Mukha Svanasana
The most well known pose in yoga, Downward Facing Dog! Eventually it does become a resting pose but the road to get there is long.

Module 4 - Connect the Breath
-
One Breath One Movement
At full speed, Surya Namaskar A is practiced as One breath, One movement. Here we will start slow, taking the time to feel into each pose but then we will embrace the breath and flow.
-
Complete Surya Namaskar A Practice
In this video we will prepare the mind, prepare the body and work our way through 5 sun salutations at the end, we will even enjoy a brief Savasana. This is a great short practice for in the morning or any time you need a reset.
